An outdoor museum village encompassing eleven buildings, Henkel Square was established in 1968 by Houstonians Faith and Charles Bybee “to preserve and perpetuate an authentic representation of local Texas life as it was in the 19th century.” Renovated by the Massey family, the landmark has been reborn as Henkel Square Market, a shopping, dining, bar-happy place and gallery space. One of Round Top’s most popular tourist destinations, it features an extensive and eclectic roster of tenants, including Pop-A-Top Bottle Shop, Lyric Salon, Mallory et Cie, Little Cheese Shop, Melissa Ellis Fine Art, Southern Beasts, Sapana, Starr’z, Wimberly Inc, The Cabin by Wimberly, Royers Pie Haven, Ellis Motel, Humble Donkey, Merritt Meat Company, Round Top Antiques & Design Center and St. Cecilia’s Episcopal Church.
